Closed for the season....

The tasting room on the farm is now closed for the season.  Please check the "Find Cider" page on this website for local wine shops that carry our ciders through our "Off Season".  And let us know if you have suggestions for a great wine shop you'd like to see our ciders in.

Thanks, and have a wonderful Holiday Season!

Welcome to the Slyboro Cider House blog! We plan to use this forum to provide regular updates about events behind the scenes at the winery, as well as relevant news from the greater cider/wine industry. We'll also chronicle the adventure of running this business as we venture out into the greater marketplace and the wine drinking public.

Currently, we're in the middle of one of the largest harvests of apples we've ever seen. Our farm was lucky enough to avoid the harsh weather that visited other farms in New York through the growing season, and are now working to take advantage of each day to bring in the crop and prepare for pressing what promises to be a very good vintage.

In the midst of our normally hectic harvest season, with thousands of U-pick customers and visitors to the farm, we have managed to release two new ciders. Our second vintage of the enormously popular Ice Harvest was such a distinctive variation from year one that we created a new label and declared it a "Special Reserve". Also, the long awaited partner to Hidden Star, a slightly drier sparkling cider called Old Sin came out just two weeks ago.

Today, I'm working on the label for a new dry, still cider made from the English cider apple Kingston Black. Label creation is one of the jobs that Susan and I find creatively rewarding, though the process is sometimes frustratingly slow. Hopefully, we'll be able to knock this one out shortly and get it onto the 150 cases patiently waiting to meet you.
